The Professional Golfers' Associations of Europe At a Wentworth meeting in 1989, The Professional Golfers' Associations of Europe (PGAsE) was founded to ensure that the administration of the professional game throughout the continent was standardised, on all fronts, to the highest degree of excellence demanded by European political and economic union. An Association of Associations was created to:
for the benefit of its members and enhancement of the game. By the millennium, the PGAs of Europe was made up of 33 member countries, some of them outside of the European Community, as individual national associations acknowledged the benefits of a comprehensive, co-ordinated policy of administration and development, especially related to the education of those who teach the technique of the game. To achieve full recognition by the PGAsE, each member country is required to either acquire levels of education for trainers as set down and overseen by the Association's Education Committee, or to set in motion a structure capable of achieving this essential standard. At the AGM in 2005, Bulgaria were accepted as full members. The term 'Associate Member' for non-European PGAs was changed to 'International Member' and India and Jamaica were accepted in this category. Providing aid to emerging golfing nations, not necessarily members, is another function of the PGAsE. Helped substantially by grants from the R&A, "missionary golf" coaches have been sent to such countries as Pakistan, Estonia, Slovenia, India, Ecuador, Peru, the Ivory Coast, to mention a few. The work was then structured under the auspices of the Education Committee as a Golf Development Programme. The 'missionaries' are officially designated as Golf Development Consultants and Tutors. The Association has fostered co-operative relationships between professional and amateur bodies to ensure that the health of the sport in its entirety, right down to the grass roots, is paramount. Sandy Jones is Chairman of the PGAs of Europe, while Manuel Agrellos is the organisation's Honorary President. Hellenic Golf Federation
The Hellenic Golf Federation was founded in October 1981. Its main goals are to promote and support the proliferation of golf in Greece. The Federation's activities are supported by the General Secretariat for Sports of the Greek Ministry of Culture and corporate sponsors. The Federation's dynamic president is Greek Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Peter Doukas. He became HGF's President in June 1999 and is determined to provide proper support for what he sees as the foundation of the country's golfing future. The HGF is member of the European Golf Association (EGA). The Professional Golfers' Association of Greece
