January 13, 2005 -- Muriel Muirden, Managing Director, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Economics Research Associates (ERA), will present 'The 10 key Trends Impacting Resort Development over the next ten years' at the INVgolf Investment Forum 2005 in Belek on April 22, 2005.

She has also accepted to sit on the 'Golf as a Driver for Real Estate Development / Residential Communities' panel on Friday afternoon, April 22.

Career summary

Muriel has extensive experience in the tourism and leisure industries through both operational and consultancy roles. Her particular areas of expertise are in the fields of development strategy, concept evaluation and business planning for large land-use projects including resorts, theme parks and urban regeneration sites.

Muriel has conducted consultancy assignments for both the public and private sector and clients have ranged from government organisations, national and regional tourist boards, property development companies, major multinational hotel operators, urban regeneration development corporations and local authorities. Major clients include Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inns, The Gleneagles Group, Conrad Hotels, Soros Real Estate, The Lanitis Group, Marks and Spencer, The Aga Khan Development Network, and Scottish Enterprise.

International assignments have included resort, regeneration and tourism development studies throughout Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East.

Prior to joining ERA, Muriel was a project manager with Guinness Enterprises, the leisure development division of Guinness PLC whose portfolio of brands included Gleneagles and Champneys. Her role incorporated development strategy, site appraisal and business planning for new hotel, golf, spa and real estate developments worldwide. Previous employers include Touche Ross Management Consultants, P & O Cruises and Holiday Inns.

Muriel was born in London, brought up in the Far East and educated in the United Kingdom. She has a BSc Honours Degree in Hotel Administration from Surrey University and an MSc in Tourism from Strathclyde University. She is a speaker at conferences world-wide, an adviser to DFID on tourism development overseas and a member of The Tourism Society.
