About European Golf Design Established in 1992 as a joint venture company, European Golf Design has worked alongside such champions as Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, and Mark O'Meara, to work on 32 new courses. European Golf Design is the joint venture design company of IMG and The PGA European Tour. The company has also been involved in remodelling projects at 14 courses, including Royal Lytham & St. Annes, the 2001 venue for the Open Championship. In 2003, European Golf Design worked on 36 projects in 16 countries, construction work took place on six projects throughout Europe, with five courses officially opening. A further two will officially open in 2004. In recent years two courses received the honour of being named 'Best New Course in Europe' by Golf World magazine. The Faldo Course at Sporting Club Berlin, Germany, designed in association with Nick Faldo, was named 'Best New Course in Europe' in 1977 and PGA Golf de Catalunya, near Barcelona, Spain (with Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo) received the same distinction in 1999. In addition, The Marquess Course at Woburn Golf Club, England, was named 'Best New Inland Course in Great Britain' as well as the first great English Golf Course of the 21st Century, and The Montgomerie Course at Carton House Golf Club in Ireland was named 'Best New Course for 2004'. In 2003, European Golf Design received 'The INVgolf Best Golf Course Designer in Europe Award' at the 2003 European GOLF Investment and Real Estate Conference & Exhibition), organised by INVgolf in Athens in November 2003. Career summary Jeremy has been involved in the golf course business since 1976. In that time, he has worked throughout Europe, the United States and Africa. Prior to graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Turf Management, Jeremy spent time as a Course Manager in the United Kingdom. After graduation, he worked for the design company of Robert Trent Jones Sr., first as a construction manager, following which he became a Design Associate and Projects Coordinator. Based predominantly in the US, Jeremy was involved in the largest single golf course design project in history -- the Alabama State Retirement Fund commissioned Robert Trent Jones to design and construct 18 golf courses under one contract. During his time with the company, Jeremy was also responsible for the management of the European office, which had eleven projects under design and construction. In addition to a design role, his specialisation became construction management and logistics.
In 1994, Jeremy joined European Golf Design, becoming Managing Director in 1996. The company, a joint venture between IMG, the world's leading organisation in the sports industry, and The PGA European Tour, the governing body of professional tournament golf in Europe, is currently working on projects in many diverse locations around the world, from the Caribbean to Russia and from Finland to South Africa. European Golf Design is working for clients ranging from major hotel groups such as Whitbread Hotels, to development groups like the Benetton family and the Myramar Group in Spain. Other clients have included the Croatian Tourist Board, Epirito Santos Bank, First National Bank and PGA European Tour Courses PLC. In addition to overseeing the successful day-to-day operation of the company, his specific responsibilities include meeting with potential clients, assisting in the initial analysis of projects and then overseeing the Company's services to each of its clients. Given the wide geographic range of the Company's business and the equally wide range of clients for whom the Company is working, Jeremy is acutely aware of current trends as they relate to golf resort development, together with the technical, financial and practical issues that result.
