Emaar Properties PJSC unveils The Desert Course at Arabian Ranches
Arabian Ranches Golf Club The Arabian Ranches Golf Club -- formerly known as The Desert Course at Arabian Ranches -- was built as a true 18-hole, par 72, desert-style grass course (similar to those found in Palm Springs, California and Scottsdale, Arizona), a signature course designed by Ian Baker-Finch in association with Nicklaus Design. The club is set within the heart of the desert, only a few minutes from Dubai, at the juncture of three key ring roads leading to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai. The "pay-and-play" course is a unique concept in the epicentre of the Arabian Ranches, another landmark development for Dubai, consisting of residential properties with leisure activities including golf and an equestrian centre for horse-lovers. The Arabian Ranches Golf Club opened its doors to the golfing public on February 1, 2004. The design brief was to extend, elongate the routing throughout the desert as much as possible, creating an oasis effect throughout the Arabian Ranches property. Hence the front nine/back nine loops back to the clubhouse, which also makes for an ideal tournament course and set up. 1st and 10th tees close to the putting green and practice area and the 9th and 18th greens coming back underneath the Spanish style clubhouse with expansive crowd and corporate viewing opportunities. The course plays over 7,691 yards from the Black Championship Tees; a real test for the worlds best. The better amateur player will enjoy the 7,092 yards from the Gold Tournament Tees and Societies and Daily Green Fee Players will be teeing off from the blue (6531 yards) and the white (5,853 yards) tees. The Ladies Tees are measuring 5,226 yards from the red markers, perhaps not the longest set-up, but due to the nature of the course, a very good test for all levels of golfers. The Golf Academy will house the golf reservations desk, changing/shower rooms, fully-equipped Pro Shop, two air-conditioned Swing Rooms (with automatic gates to open up to driving range for additional comfort to students), Full Restaurant and Bar Service (operated by Jebel Ali International), Driving Range with Short game practice/ teaching area as well as a Practice Putting Green.
