Golf courses and golf resorts in Turkey
"In Turkey most golf courses are in the vicinity of tourist resorts, around the coastal regions which have the necessary facilities like accommodation, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, etc. Especially in the area of Belek, 30 km. east of Antalya, there is a big potential for golf tourism with the bonus of the cultural, historical and natural sightseeing of the region. There are five golf facilities already
operating in Belek. Properties of golf facilities in Belek are as follows (detailed information can be obtained from
www.belektourismcenter.org
or by clicking here): Robinson Club Nobilis: 5,900 metres long course with 18 holes, par 72, on an area of 729,000 sq.m. The bed capacity of the establishment is 880. Antalya Golf Club: has two courses, The Sultan and The Pasha. The first one is 5,700 metres long with 18 holes and par 72 on an area of 550,000 sq.m. There are 55 bunkers which are 11,000 sq.m. The second course is 6.400 m. long with 18 holes and par 71 on an area of 775,000 sq.m. There are 122 bunkers, which are 14,600 sq.m. National Golf Club: has two courses. The first one is 6,200 metres long with 18 holes and par 72 on an area of 920,000 sq.m. There are six lakes of 46,000 sq.m. and 29 bunkers which are 2,200 sq.m. The second course has nine holes, par 29. There are three lakes and six bunkers which are 500 sq.m. Tatbeach Golf Hotel: 27 holes, par 72 on an area of 1.1 million sq.m. The bed capacity of the establishment is 650. Antalya and the South Aegean coasts of Turkey are two of the biggest tourism destinations in all Mediterranean. In 2002, 7.5 million foreign tourists visited both regions. In the regions the total bed capacity with international standards is 300,000. Because of the excellent climate it is possible to play golf throughout the year. The sea and sun, nature and history all come together in harmony here where the best and cleanest beaches on the Mediterranean are found. The 2,000 km. shoreline is strewn with ancient cities and harbours, memorial tombs, charming little coves, forests and streams. The north of Antalya is covered by the Taurus mountains and one can make winter-ski in two hours' time after swimming."
