Jeff Howes Golf Design Ltd.

Kilkenny, Ireland-based Jeff Howes Golf Design Ltd. (JHGD), whose principal is Jeff Howes, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Geography from the University of Alberta and a diploma in Turf Grass Management from the University of Massachusetts. An accomplished amateur and collegiate golfer in his younger days, he was always interested in the design and construction of golf courses. His profession has taken him all over the world (North America, Asia and Europe). During the past 28 years Jeff has worked with some of the worlds leading golf course designers, including Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jack Nicklaus.

In 1991 Jeff resigned from the Nicklaus organisation to set up Jeff Howes Golf Design. JHGD's many projects include Gowran Park in Kilkenny, Ireland, Golf Club Adamstal, Austria and the redesign of Fota Island, Ireland host of the Irish Open in 2001 and 2002. JHGD was also involved in the restoration and upgrading of the greens at Mount Juliet in preparation for the American Express World Championship in 2002.

Jeff Howes' latest design is The Heritage Golf & Country Club in Portlaoise, a co-design with Seve Ballesteros. This project included a total of 110 houses (both on and off course), a Hotel / Leisure & Conference Centre, par-3 course, state of the art school of excellence and 3,000 m2 clubhouse.

Jeff Howes Golf Design has linked up with ADPM (Architectural Design and Project Management) and Tiros (Planning Consultants) to develop a 54 hole project in Hungary. The overall scope of the project involves 3 x 18 hole Championship courses, a Driving Range, par-3 course and a putting course. The real estate component of the project comprises some 1,500 on & off-course Apartment / Duplex / Detached units, a Hotel / Leisure (Spa) & Conference Centre, a Horse Racing Track, Light Industrial Units, Waste Facilities, etc.

As well as this, JHGD have submitted for planning a 36-hole golf resort in Dublin, Ireland. Again this project includes a Driving Range, Putting Course and an extensive Short Game Academy. The real estate element exists of another Hotel / Leisure / Conference Centre, an Aparthotel, an Equestrian Centre and 60 high end detached residences.

Jeff Howes Golf Design are looking forward to expanding their client base by working closely with the National Golfing Unions, Tourism Agencies and Developers of the established and emerging markets in Europe.
