Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd.

Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd.

Company profile

Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd. is a Textron company and manufactures and markets a range of turf maintenance equipment for the golf course, municipal and local authorities and professional lawn care markets that include the following:

  • Jacobsen golf course maintenance equipment

  • Ransomes municipal turf maintenance equipment

  • Cushman and Ryan turf maintenance equipment

Ransomes can trace its origins back over 200 years to 1789 at the end of the first industrial revolution. A gifted engineer named Robert Ransome settled with his family in Ipswich and by 1832 had acquired the licence to manufacture the first mechanical lawnmower. In 1902 Robert's grandson, James Ransome added a petrol engine to one of their mowers, changing forever the way the world would cut grass.

Across the world, Ransomes Jacobsen products are used for turf maintenance on almost every recognised Open Championship golf course.

Ransomes Jacobsen also markets a range of golf cars, personnel and small utility vehicles manufactured by its sister companies E-Z-GO and Cushman. These have applications on golf courses, in town centres, parks, airports and industry. The range of electric-powered light industrial vehicles includes:

  • E-Z-GO golf cars and personnel carriers

  • Cushman and E-Z-GO light industrial vehicles
